Scan the Sky is designed to function locally on your device. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell your personal data.
The app requests access to your device's GPS location solely to calculate regional light pollution (Bortle scale) metrics and orient the seasonal constellation guide. This coordinate data is processed locally and briefly passed to open-source weather and mapping APIs (Open-Meteo, OpenStreetMap) to retrieve public data. It is never saved to a database or tied to your identity.
